Ecuador Cuenca
Though I have lived in Maine since ‘94, making it well more than half of my life, I am originally from Ecuador. I was born in the most beautiful city in the country -and one that competes with the best in the world- Cuenca, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located in the southern region of the Andes mountain range, Cuenca is a gem set in the temperate valleys of Ecuador.
Although Ecuador is not much different from other countries in Latin America, which struggle with their economic policies, politicians, and social issues, it is geographically beautiful, with a diversity worth showcasing. Here you’ll find photos from Cuenca and the surrounding areas. Myriad of churches and markets fill the city, street vendors outside of cathedrals, the explosive wildlife just outside the city limits and the vastly beautiful and expansive vistas of Parque Nacional Del Cajas, just a few minutes from Cuenca proper.
