Ecuador Beaches

Ecuador has the Pacific Ocean to the west and there are some beautiful beaches with fine sand and inviting warm ocean water. Sara and I were lucky enough to live in one of the beach towns for a year. An interesting fact about the beaches in Ecuador is that the southern portion is influenced by the Humboldt ocean current which brings cold water from the arctic. It takes a left turn towards the Galápagos Islands and this results in the water being much cooler in the southern beaches than in the northern ones
