About
Paul H Chacon
In 2006 I picked up a DSLR to photograph food for my restaurant (I sold Su Casa in 2008), not knowing that I would get addicted to taking photographs. This camera was a Pentax K100D with 6 mega pixels! which I got only because it was weather sealed. The camera became an extension of me. This was a time when cell phones weren’t a thing yet, but I would carry my camera everywhere I went.
It has been a long road to be able to feel comfortable with my work, and along the way I switched my Pentax system (consisting of a K3 II and a collection of lenses) to a Canon 6D Mark II and to the FujiFilm system: X-T3, X-S10, and a little X-A5, not because Pentax (now Ricoh) is anything but an excellent product, but because the mirrorless lineup and film simulations of the FujiFilm brand along with the retro design, and smaller size of the equipment, makes it easy and a lot of fun to produce images. The Canon on the other hand, has a full size sensor which allows for much bigger prints.
I am based in the Mid Coast of the beautiful state of Maine which makes it easy and a pleasure to photograph. I also spent three years in Ecuador where I had the fortune to be invited to the international Art Expo (more of this on the Fireworks section) as the first photographer to participate and I was also invited to the Galápagos Islands to photograph the life, food, and more.
I hope you enjoy my work, and I thank you for stopping by. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
